BERETTE MACAULAY

 While in Jamaica , Berette was a model and actor on a prime time TV show titled Royal Palm Estate. After two years on the show (which aired in the Caribbean, Britain, and the US [cable]), she moved to the US where she earned her degree in Theatre Arts in 2001, graduating magna cum laude from Marymount Manhattan College. In her training, she studied with Barbara Adrian, Patricia Hoag Simon, Godfrey Simmons Jr., and Mary Fleischer ; and has performed since in various theater productions. Berette also studied photography, mounting her first exhibit in collaboration with the Titans Theater Company on the Living in Pieces project celebrating storytelling and women's voices. She had vocal training at the New York Conservatory of Music, and completed a two-year dance program at Peridance, studying ballet, modern, and hip hop under the direction of Finis Jung, Kenny Larson, Jim May, Bill Hastings, Nina Buisson, Graciela Kozak, and Devin Pullins. She continues to actively participate in workshops with such companies/choreographers as Parsons, Max Luna II, Roger C. Jeffrey, and Urban Bush Women.

  Berette has studied with Nina for 3 years, and in that time has forged a fulfilling artistic partnership with her. Since joining the NBCM family, Nina has given Berette the opportunity to contribute in unrestrained capacity as a make up artist, music/sound editor, and lighting designer in such shows as IDF 2004 at the Duke; the NBCM prod. and InSync Dance Theater Winter prod. of Yulunga 2004; Tapejara, perf. by Devin Pullins at Peridance; Inazuma for the Julliard Sr. Grad. Showcase 2005, for which she co-created a solo piece with Nina Buisson and served as acting coach in the rehearsals; and IDF 2005 perf. of Hypnosis at the Di Capo Opera House. She also edited the Nina Buisson Contemporary Move Video Reel.

  Productions as an actress and/or dancer include Waiting for Godot; Curdom (Int'l Fringe Festival); The Wonder! A Woman Keeps A Secret and Shirtwaist (Flying Fig Theater Company); Oedipus the King ; Mother Courage (Titans Theater Company); The Story (Blackbird Productions), Wild Woman/Wet (David Keiffer Dance Theater); Karma , Yulunga , and Hynosis (Nina Buisson Contemporary Move); the Statement 7 th Draft: A tribute to the Immortal Gil-Scott Heron (Subtle Changes Inc. [Roger C. Jeffrey]; and Nobody Cares (DRP Dance [Devin Pullins]). She currently can be seen in an ongoing exhibition, Perform , at the Museum of the City of New York on Museum Mile, and pursues her love of photography under the name, SeBiArt.
