RACHEL TINGUELY

    

    Rachel Tinguely was born in Brazil, and grew up in Switzerland from age 3. Her background is gymnastics, she took interest in dance at age 14, where she started to train in ballet, tap and theater dance, studying with Edith Tolnay Langer, with whom she four years later toured Europe. 1995 -1999 she went to the University to study physical education, where dance classes where part of the ceritification. She then started to teach dance classes and workshops at the Rainbow Center and the University of  Berne.
    In 2001 she studied dance at the Colombo Dance School in Switzerland. She had been trained in ballet with Laura Atwood, in jazz dance with Richard Harvey  and in modern dance she worked with Choreographers Marisa Godoy, Nunzio Verde Nero, Frank Rutishauser, Luciano di Natale, Guido Tuveri, Peter Mc Coy and Gisela Rochat.  In the same year she performed with a hip-hop and street dance group “red beans and rice” and won the third place of the swiss championship. From there she traveled to New York, studied at different Schools like Broadway Dance Center, Steps, Ballet Arts, Dance Space and Alvin Ailey. Now she is completing her studies at Peridance. She actively takes intensive dance workshops in modern and ballet dance. Rachel has performed with choreographers, including Nina Buisson, Richard Pierlon, Ashley Wallen, Sebastien Sabatier-Curial, Jason Melms, and Jennifer Chin. Since one year she performs at outdoor Festivals with her Partner Sabine Heubusch, where they show a Bench Dance choreography, which involves acrobatic, modern dance and yoga.

    She has been a member of Nina Buissons Contemporary Move since 2004. She has performed  at the Annual International Dance Festival at the Duke on 42nd Street, and in many other showcases and venues throughout NY.

    Rachel has been certified in Gyrotonic and is theaching since one year. In September 2006 she started the Gyrokinesis course and will be certified in April 2007.
