MAKI SHINAGAWA Maki Shinagawa was born in Japan , and started ballet training under the direction of Ms. Aiko Ohtaki of the Ballet Arts of Carnegie Hall in Tokyo . Now living in New York , Maki is completing her dance studies at Peridance Center under the direction of Igal Perri, Nina Buisson, Graciela Kozak, Jeanne Solan, Eva Evdokimova, Fabrice Lemire, David Howard, Johannes Wieland and Leonald Holmes. She actively takes intensive dance workshops, most notably (to date) with Elisa Monte, Nai-Ni Chen, Kun-Yang Lin, Complexions, Nathan Trice, Ohad Naharin, and Jose Manuel Carreno. Since her arrival in New York City in 2004, Maki has performed with different choreographers, including Nina Buisson, Jason Melms, Mattew Neff, and Heather Inglis. She has been a member of and an assistant to the Nina Buisson Contemporary Move since 2004. She has performed with the group at the Annual International Dance Festival at the Dicapo Opera Theater in 2005 and at the same show at the Duke on 42nd Street in 2004, to name a few. She assists Nina for various shows and programs, including Peridance Center Teen Summer Intensive (2004, 2005, 2006), DRA “Stars of Tomorrow” for Perichild Ensemble (2005), Peridance Center Spring Faculty Showcase (2006), Steps on Broadway Choreography/Performance (2006), and Martin Luthur King Jr. Auditorium Spring Showcase and Workshop (2005). Maki has also designed costumes for Nina Buisson Contemporary Move, which have appeared in different venues throughout New York city . Maki received her teaching training in classical ballet, body conditioning and music, and participated in the ballet seminar special teacher's course with Jan Nuyts, Francis Weyts under the Prix de Lausanne-operation in Japan . She has taught at Ballet Arts of Carnegie Hall in Tokyo , Japan , and is currently teaching at the Queens Dance School . |
