Joe Celej
Joe Celej born in Buffalo , New York , has studied on scholarship at Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and The Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles. Upon receiving his BFA in dance performance from the Sate University of New York at Buffalo, where he was a performing and creative arts honors scholar. Joe joined the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company and has performed works by Robert Battle, Randy Duncan, Eddy Ocampo, Kate Skarpetowska, Max Stone & Jana Hicks, Kevin Wynn, and Mario Zambrano, at various venues including the Jazz Dance World Congress, the Pink Ribbons Project, and the Illuminations Project for World AIDS Day. In 2003, Joe became the resident choreographer for the HMDC, creating six original works, in addition to works created for the Zodiaque Dance Company, Pink! The Musical, Episcopal High School, the Met Too youth company. Joe has also spent much of his time on faculty at several dance schools throughout the Houston and Buffalo areas. Upon moving to New York City in 2005, Joe performed with Nina Buisson Contemporary Move and the Next Stage Project. Joe is excited to continue his first year with Elisa Monte Dance and would like to thank his friends and family for their passionate support.
